1 What is SafeDriver™?
SafeDriver™ consists of a key fob (keychain LCD) and a sensor to display a driver’s maximum speed, distance traveled and sudden braking. Parents can use SafeDriver™ to monitor their teen’s driving behavior.
|
| |
2 How does it Work?
FUNCTIONALLY, SafeDriver™ lets the teen know that their driving behavior is being monitored by their parents, thus making them accountable. Therefore, they will drive more responsibly.
TECHNICALLY, SafeDriver™ sensor requests information from the vehicle’s OBD-II (On Board Diagnostics) port and wirelessly transmits the calculated statistics to the keychain for display on the LCD.

3 Why record speed, distance and braking?
These are three key elements in many collisions. SafeDriver™ lets an parent monitor maximum speed, total distance traveled and number of sudden brakes for each trip in the family vehicle.
• Maximum Speed - whether or not a teen obeyed the posted speed limits.
• Distance Traveled - Shows whether or not a teen traveled only as far as was needed by the parent.
• Sudden Brakes - Shows whether or not a teen was involved in tailgating, inattention, distraction, and/or speeding while operating the family vehicle.

4 Is this a GPS device?
No. SafeDriver™ does not track the location of your teen. The distanced traveled statistic can be used to see if the teen travelled excessive distance. Plus, this allows us to provide a product with no monthly fees!

5 Does the key fob need to be in the vehicle for the system to work?
No. The sensor collects the data from the vehicle regardless of whether or not the key fob is present. In this case, once the vehicle was returned, the key fob could be brought to the vehicle to be updated (the vehicle would need to be running to send the updated data).

| |
6 Can an teen change the settings on the device?
No. The device is password (PIN) protected. If someone tries to alter the device settings, removes the sensor from the vehicle, or removes the key fob’s battery, the keychain LCD displays a TAMPER message.

7 Are there any vehicles that are incompatible with SafeDriver™?
The unit has been engineered to operate with all vehicles that are EOBD/OBD-II compliant. In Europe these are petrol vehicles since 2001 and diesel vehicles since 2003. However, there may be the rare occasion where the unit may not be compatible.
