Take the guesswork out of vehicle maintenance with our specialized Infrared Thermometer, designed to provide quick and accurate temperature readings of your vehicle’s brake components. Whether you’re a professional mechanic or a car enthusiast, this thermometer ensures that your brakes are operating at optimal temperatures for performance and safety.
The Bowmonk Infrared Thermometer is now an approved method to measuring the temperature of a vehicles brakes before and after the decelerometer test has been carried out. This is to help identify if individual brakes are operational.
As of April 2025, new guidance in the “Guide to Maintaining Roadworthiness” will require additional brake temperature checks for commercial good and passenger-carrying vehicles.
“A temperature check needs to be carried out before and after the decelerometer test to help identify if individual brakes are operational. Final brake temperature readings need to be significantly higher than the initial readings to properly assess the brake performance, with relatively consistent readings taken for each brake across an axle…” – From the “Guide to Maintaining Roadworthiness”
