Brakecheck Overview

The Bowmonk BrakeCheck TT (Truck & Trailer) is a DVSA-approved portable brake decelerometer for tractor unit and rigid truck service brake and handbrake testing, with an additional trailer brake testing function provided strictly for internal fleet inspection, maintenance reference, and record keeping.

This decelerometer will brake test tractor units, rigid trucks, and trailers, and incorporates a 99-test memory on each brake type: 99 service brake tests, 99 handbrake tests and 99 trailer brake tests.

Developed for articulated and mixed-fleet operations, it allows operators to assess tractor unit and rigid truck service brakes and handbrakes (DVSA-approved use), while also providing useful internal reference data on trailer brake performance as part of routine fleet maintenance.

This makes the BrakeCheck TT suitable for HGV fleet operators, workshops, and maintenance teams who need a practical on-road brake testing tool to support inspections and preventative maintenance, without claiming DVSA approval for trailer testing.

Key Features & Functionality

Operation: Measures Service Brake and Hand Brake efficiency by recording deceleration from approximately 20 mph.
Diagnostics: Identifies braking imbalance (pulling left or right).
Usability: Self-contained and user-friendly. It features a self-compensating level indicator to ensure correct positioning.
Data: Results can be viewed on the LED screen, printed via a portable infra-red printer, or downloaded to a PC.
Memory: Has an independent 99 test memory for the service brake test, hand brake test and trailer test.
Power: Powered by a rechargeable lithium-ion battery with an auto power-down feature to save energy.
